Company history

EzMedic software was an idea that was born out of need. Unfortunately, medical crisis is not a stranger to me and neither are the frustrations that come along with it. I experienced 4 high-risk pregnancies: 2 resulting in miscarriages with complications and 2 emergency c-sections with pre-mature births. My first husband took a fall at work and permanently injured his spinal cord. When our second daughter was born with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, our lives changed forever and the number of medical visits grew exponentially.

Over the years we have been in and out of hospitals, emergency rooms, Dr's offices, etc. hundreds of times. I found myself increasingly frustrated each time we were asked the same questions over and over.... mostly background/medical history questions that were always the same - though the list of diagnoses, medications, treatments, surgeries etc. continued to grow. I wanted to focus on why we were there in the first place - the present crisis, not all the previous crises, understanding however that past history affects the present condition.

It soon became evident that in order for me to cope with the on-going crises and needs of my family I needed to put my organizational skills to work. One of the many tools I created was a little card for each member of our family that answered all of these medical information questions at a glance. Not only did it jog my memory when questions were asked, but it became very easy for medical personnel to simply photocopy the card for their record and skip to the most important business at hand. The cards have been worth it! We have used them countless numbers of times. Each time someone would see them, they would say, 'where did you get this? This is incredible. I wish more of our patients were this organized.'

Throughout our journey, I have learned to cope with the crises through some very practical strategies. Some of these strategies I learned and picked up on my own, others through research and education.

In May of 2003, I observed an elderly gentleman struggle as he tried to complete a patient questionnaire. It started me thinking about the greater need for my cards, services and products. The next morning, I felt like God ‘downloaded’ the idea for ezMedic software - how I could create products and services to assist with crisis management that would benefit every home - not just for families with disabled children.
